2022 Tips on Furniture Refinishing in the New Year

* First thing, remember you can always change the color or finish of any piece of furniture; you can’t change the form, so pick something you like and don’t worry about its finish.

* You can find some of the most exciting and unique furniture at the ReStore in Billerica for next to nothing – you might even be able to make some cash out of the deal by reselling your work of art!

* Now for the fun part…the prep work! When refinishing furniture this is always the worst part – don’t skimp here, you’ll pay for it later; take your time, relax and start sanding away. Listen to some music, drink some wine (not too much because you don’t want to leave streaks), and let your inner Zen shine.

* Invest in good paint or staining supplies (high quality paints, stains, and brushes).

* If after you paint or stain your creation, don’t be afraid if you don’t like it – redo it…it’s that simple.

* After you’ve created your final masterpiece, seal it with a good quality sealer; be patient, it takes time to cure…like all fine things in life, it’s worth the wait.
